The quaint, quiet by-lanes of Lucknow are home to one of India’s oldest craft forms, Chikankari.

The traditional hand embroidery technique — practiced by skilled craftspeople of the region, since the reign of the Mughals — uses a combination of 32 different stitches to create beautiful, wearable works of art. Taking a garment often months to produce; and the craftsperson at least a decade to master its famed shadow effect patterns.

In the capable hands of the women artisans, our Chikankari Edit pays an homage to motifs inspired by the blooms of the nature, and also continues to sustain the heritage craft form in traditional and contemporary silhouettes. Below, we list the season’s must-haves: Chikankari Kurtas.
